It is hard to see ourselves clearly and to move toward change by ourselves. Making an intentional plan is incrementally easier with the support of a well-trained other. Together, we’ll identify what’s working well, what is not, and where you’d like to be, and then we’ll design a life that is based on what you value yet flexible enough to handle the curve balls of life.

Therapy for Women & Female Teens

WOMENDespite the immense progress of the last 40 years, women continue to struggle to be seen, heard, and recognized in many relationships, communities, and organizations. Many of us internalized negative messages about our self-worth, our bodies, our capabilities, our sexuality, our relationships, or our wants and needs as we have been reared, educated, and socialized. In our work together, we can identify and change these messages so that you can live a life aligned with your best self.

FEMALE TEENSLife can be so complicated, busy, and downright confusing for teens. Therapy can help teens deal with overwhelming thoughts, emotions, and situations so they can focus on what is important and valuable in their life. Not only do I remember how challenging my own teen years were, but I am also knee-deep in raising a teen myself. I can help create a safe space where teens can be who they are, say what they need, and move toward what matters most.

Grief & Loss

Loss can take many forms, from the death of a loved one to the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or even the loss of a pet. Whatever the cause of your loss, we'll work together to explore your feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, or regret, and develop strategies to help you find closure and move forward. As a therapist, I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore your grief and loss at your own pace. I use evidence-based techniques to help you cope with your feelings and manage any symptoms of depression or anxiety that may arise during this process. If you're struggling with grief, loss, or death, know that you're not alone. Reach out today to schedule a session and take the first step towards healing and finding peace.

About me

Hi there! My name is Shawn and I’m so glad you found me.
I am a licensed therapist passionate about helping people live authentic, intentional, value-filled lives. Getting to what matters and figuring out what is standing in your way isn’t going to be easy, but I promise I’ll work hard with you and that we’ll even share a few laughs along the way. My style is pretty laid back but I still think it’s important to have structure in our work so you have a clear idea of what we are working on and where we are headed.
Our relationship is one of the most important factors for a positive outcome in therapy. This means I continuously work on connecting, communicating, and accepting what it’s like to be you with your experiences. I work hard to understand how culture, race, religion, spirituality, gender, and sexuality play a role in your life and decisions while holding gently that I can never truly understand get what it’s like to be you.

I have 20 years of experience working in mental health, healthcare, and business. I’ve been lucky enough to work in top organizations and hospitals (TIRR Memorial Hermann, Baylor, and PeaceHealth) across the country (Texas, Ohio, and Washington). I’ve worked and lived in small townships, medium-sized cities, and large metropolitan areas. During my early training I worked under renowned professionals (Brene Brown, Ph.D., Steward Yudolfsky, M.D. & Glen Gabbard, Ph.D.) among many others who contributed to my development. I have since settled into areas that work well with my style, are evidence-based, and produce successful outcomes. I lean toward using a humanistic approach and acceptance and commitment therapy in my practice.
I firmly believe we all have the ability to change, grow and connect to a life worth living so reach out today so we can start our work together.
